About Me:
You do not have to be a veteran in order to have an appointment and be treated here, but I do have a soft spot in my heart for veterans and I do wish to give back to the veteran community.
I am not a veteran. My father was a Veteran, both my grandfathers were veterans. My father often talked about serving in the Korean war, but neither grandfather said much about their time in the service. One of my grandfathers served during World War II, but it was not until much later that I learned before coming to the United States to serve in the navy that he had also served on horseback in Sweden during WW I. I can remember my grandmother crying softly when the Andrew Sister would sing “Don’t’ Sit Under The Apple Tree;” she would tell me she was crying because she liked the song so much.
Growing up in the ‘60s my mother was the only chiropractor in our small rural community. Most people did not know what chiropractic was, or even why she was working. Most moms stayed home then. She taught me how to do her adjustments…there wasn’t anyone else. She also began to teach me to do massage work, she didn’t want to do it, but often it needed to be done so that she could manipulate the spine easily and without the pain of tight muscles. This was back before licensing of massage therapists, a much more lenient time. Soon I was doing the massage therapy for most of her patients and all of my relatives! That means that I honestly have been doing massage therapy all of my life!
I believe in learning. I also believe we can always learn and do better at what we already do well. I am required to take continuing educational courses each year, 16 of them. I don’t pay too much attention to that because this year I believe I have about 75 CEUs so far and more classes to take. There are modalities that I have taken now, but no one else in Anchorage has been taught and authorized to use. One of the ways I know this is a naturopath I was seeing one of these and he retired last year. All this just means I have more ideas and options for making you feel better because I insist on learning more.
I also have a soft spot in my heart for dogs! I have work with patients with their seeing eye dogs and disability dogs present. What helpful fun creatures they are! I was a bit worried the first time. These animals are trained to help and protect their masters and I was hoping that they wouldn’t think I was hurting their masters, but they did not. They were happy to see me and knew somehow that I was there to help.
I hope you will come and see me, use your insurance so you won’t even need to pay me and let me show you what I can do for you!
